As a continuation from my last post, I was exploring what the next appropriate step in the Shake the Money Tree investment pyramid. Exploring a few different options and also posted something on Facebook, I decided to take the next step with a Dividend ETF.
I decided to buy ETF shares, Invesco S&P500 High Dividend Low Volatility Exchange Traded Fund: Ticker SPHD. I decided to go with SPHD because of the approximately 4.30% dividend yield that is paid out monthly. With that new investment, here is how the STMT investment pyramid stacks up:
Ally Savings account currently @ 1.90% APR
12 months CD Ladder currently averaging @ 2.45%
Dividend Index Fund SPHD @ ~4.30%
So in the net worth tracking, you will see a new asset for the brokerage account that holds these shares. I did an initial transfer of $500 to get started. For the investment, I paid $476.30 (including trading fees) for 11 shares or averaging $43.30/share
As stated before, there is more to go and you can see my current investment pyramid is just the foundation for something bigger and better down the road, see below.
As I continue to have consistent and reliable cash flows from Shake the Money Tree (you can follow here), I will drive to make the pyramid stronger at the base in addition to stretching into new investment classes.
Stay tuned…
