Ebates: It works and great savings opportunities

So it really does work !!! After posting my last blog review write-up on Wallet Squirrel, I then went to the Ebates site and signed up. I needed to test this offer and site out to see what it was all about and was it legit. The initial offer of $10 off on your first purchase of $25 seemed like a good deal, representing an immediate 40% savings.

Finding out that Ebates has been around since 1998 and with over 2,500 available stores, seems like a valid site and offering. The signup process was quick and easy and I already had an idea of what I was going to buy. I didn’t see this purchase as an incremental or impulse one just to satisfy the offer, but it was great to see the large amount of retailers that I can use the link. I also grouped this purchase by paying with a cash back credit card and I was really able to stack my savings up…

The savings were quickly calculated and accrued in my account. There are multiple ways to get your cash back, one being PayPal. The only negative item that you need to be aware of is the timing of the payout as it happens on a quarterly basis February, May, August, & November. I was lucky enough to sign up and earn my rewards in time to get the payout with the May cycle, as I quickly earned $32 for two quick online shopping trips.

So in the end, I do think this is a great deal and I would encourage all to signup and earn the Ebates cash back rewards, understanding that you need to limit your purchases to items within your budget vs impulsive or incremental spending as this will eliminate the budget improvements that this offer can provide.
